Ultra-thin porcelain (3.5mm thick) is the result of years of research and development and is only available from a small number of manufacturers currently. Thanks to the introduction of roller press technology, it is now possible to produce 3m x1m porcelain tiles only 3.5m thick while still maintaining both the mechanical and aesthetic properties of a traditional standard thickness porcelain tile. It is therefore available in a variety of styles and finishes. The product thickness broadens the use and offers great potential for innovation in commercial and domestic design. For example, this product can be laid over existing tiling removing the need for expensive preparatory work.
Due to its thickness – 3.5mm and 5.6mm – this product only weighs 7.8 kg/m2 and 14kg/m2 respectively. This makes cutting, handling and transportation far easier. As a result, it can offer substantial savings on a project and faster completion times.
